Abu Hurayrah (radhiAllahu ‘anhu) said:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked, ‘Which woman is the best?’

He (ﷺ) said, ‘The one who makes [her husband] happy when he looks at her, who obeys him when he tells her to do something, and who does not oppose him in a manner he dislikes with regard to herself and her wealth.’”

— [Reported by al-Nisaa’i, 3179; Saheeh al-Jaami’, 3292]

When Allah has previously decreed for a servant a rank which he has not attained by his action, He afflicts him in his body, or his wealth or his children then He makes him patient upon that until He makes him reach the rank which has already been decreed for him by Allah.

— The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa salam. [recorded in the Sunnan of Abee Dawud, 3090, classified: Sahih].

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (radhiAllahu ‘anhu):

Allah’s Apostle (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Do not wish to be except like two men. A man whom Allah has given the knowledge of the Book and he recites it during the hours of the night, and a man whom Allah has given wealth, and he spends it in charity during the night and the hours of the day.”

[Sahih Bukhari Vol. 6, no. 543]

Narrated Khaula Al-Ansariya (radhiAllahu ‘anhu): I heard Allah’s Apostle (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saying,

"Some people spend Allah’s Wealth (i.e. Muslim’s wealth) in an unjust manner; such
people will be put in the (Hell) Fire on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Sahih Bukhari Vol. 4, no. 347]

Greed is of two kinds:

1. of the world’s wealth
2. of the hereafter that is lasting good deeds.

Allaah has brought both of them together for the people.

— Ali ibn Abi Talib (radiAllaahu anhu) [Bidayah wan Nihayah] (via aliibnabitalib)

umaribnalkhattab:

Umar (radiAllaahu anhu) wept when he saw the huge quantities of wealth that arrived as a result of the conquests of Persia. When Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Auf pointed out that it was not a moment of sadness but rather a moment of happiness and being thankful, Umar said,

“No! indeed, whenever a people are given this [huge amount of wealth]. there occurs among them enmity and hatred.”

And when he saw the arrival of wealth that came from the conquest of Jaloolah, he recited the following verse:

Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth) [Qur’aan (3:14)]

And he said, “O Allaah, we cannot help but be happy with that which has been made beautified for us. O Allaah, make me spend it as it should be spent, and I seek refuge with you from its evil.”
