When a person starts to innovate, the sweetness of Hadeeth leaves his heart.

Heart is Like A Fortress

Ibn Al-Jawzi (rahimahullaah) said: “Iblees tricks people in whatever way he can, and his power over them increases and decreases according to their alertness or negligence, their ignorance or knowledge.

Note that the heart is like a fortress, and the devils are always going around the fortress watching for the guards to become heedless. The guard should know all the gates of the fortress which he has been appointed to guard, and he should not let his attention slip for a moment, for the enemy never lets his attention slip.”

Iman Wears Out: We all go through high and low levels of Iman. As Rasool of Allah told us: “al-Iman wears out in each and everyone of you and me like a “thaub” (garment) wears out (like our clothes wears out…and they become shabby eventually. Iman wears out like that “thaub”). So Rasool of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advised us (since our Iman wears out) “So all of you Muslims, should ask Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) to RENEW the Iman in our hearts.

You will not be a scholar until you learn, and concerning knowledge you will not be a scholar until you act in accordance with it. It is a sufficient amount of sin for you that you do not cease to debate, and it is a sufficient amount of sin for you that you do not cease to dispute. It is a sufficient amount of lies for you that you do not cease to innovate concerning the (commands) of Allaah The Mighty, The Majestic.

One of our Salaf wrote to one of his friends:

“My brother, you might think that you will reside even though in reality you continue traveling, driven to death which is headed towards you. Meanwhile, life’s term is being shortened while you are traveling and what you have spent of your life will not be returned to you until the Day of At-Taghabun (the Day of Judgment when some people will lose themselves and some others will win their eternal happiness).”
