Shaykh ‘Abdullaah al-Ghunaymaan (hafidthahullaah) said:

“It is obligatory upon all those who speak about an affair from the affairs of the Religion, that they do so purely for the sake of Allaah, sincerely for the truth. And that they overcome their soul and strive against following their desires, not inclining towards worldly matters, such as love of being praised, seeking fame and reputation, gaining a large following, and other such matters. So one who seeks to gain any of this, will only gain the vanities of this world.”

The people of the Hereafter are three: The Aabid, the Zaahid and the Siddeeq.

The Aabid worships Allaah whilst being attached to searching for provision. The Zaahid worships Him whilst keeping away from attachment to the worldly things. The Siddeeq worships Him with pleasure and conformity, he takes from the worldly things when he sees it fit to (do so) and abandons it when he sees it fit…”

Heart is Like A Fortress

Ibn Al-Jawzi (rahimahullaah) said: “Iblees tricks people in whatever way he can, and his power over them increases and decreases according to their alertness or negligence, their ignorance or knowledge.

Note that the heart is like a fortress, and the devils are always going around the fortress watching for the guards to become heedless. The guard should know all the gates of the fortress which he has been appointed to guard, and he should not let his attention slip for a moment, for the enemy never lets his attention slip.”

A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise. Our soulmate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we’re two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we’ve found the right person. Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life.

The path (can be broken into) two paths. First, there is the path of the pious, the Companions of the Right. This is the path of fulfilling the obligatory deeds and abstaining from the forbidden deeds, both the esoteric and external of those categories. Second is the path of al-muqaeabeen al-saabiqeen (those who outstripped others and were brought near to Allah) who perform the obligatory and recommended deeds to the best of their abilities and refrain from the disliked and forbidden deeds. As the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,

“What I have forbidden you, stay away from. What I have ordered you (to do) do as much of it as you can.”
